It’s not just the vanity lights that give a room a vintage feel. It’s the mirror and vases, the accessories, the bedside lamp, and even the floor lamp. It’s all about the lighting and it’s just as easy to retrofit a vintage vanity as a vintage mirror, vase, and bedside light.
If you have a room that has a lot of lamps or accessories, that’s a great place for a retro vanity. By the way, I love the idea of a room that is painted a bit on the light and retro vintage theme.
When I was growing up in Florida, my room was always in the back of a house, next to the kitchen, and it had a large vanity and vases and lamps and whatnot. These days I have a room that is in the front of the house (on the side with no kitchen), it has a kitchen, and I have a bathroom, and its just so much easier to just move things around and see what you need.
This is why so many homes have old appliances and a few antique lamps. They’re usually in the kitchen in the old days, but now they seem to be in the bathroom or the kids’ room or something. You can make a lot of “useful” junk look like a piece of art.
You really do have to work on your lighting. I have a whole room that is in the front of my home that is very bright and beautiful. It used to be a bathroom, now it’s the kids room. It’s just a matter of setting some of the lamps and it can really transform a room.
